Operation and Potential Risk Handling substrates or material surfaces that have been coated with nanomaterials that have the potential to become aerosolized or released from the surface of the substrate
Controls
- Nanomaterial coated surfaces shall be handled within ventilated enclosures.
- When exhaust ventilation is not feasible, respiratory protection shall be utilized to prevent potential inhalation of nanomaterials.
- Latex or nitrile clean room gloves
- Wet cleaning methods shall be employed to decontaminate surfaces that have been potentially contaminated with nanomaterials
Alternatively, Control Banding may be employed when more is known about material reactivity, exposure duration and material state.
